Abstract

Porphyromonas gingivalis is a gram negative, anerobic, non-spore & nonmotile rods or cocco-bacilli. It is
a major periodontopathic bacteria involved in the pathogenesis of periodontal disease. It is considered as a
major causative agent of chronic periodontitis. It contains a wide variety of virulence factors that helps it
in colonization and evasion of host defences.
